Welcome to the first issue of Storage Networking Times for 2009, covering the latest developments in Solid State Storage, activities in the Middle East and information on how channel partners are benefitting from becoming involved with SNIA Europe. Less than two months into the year, the SNIA has already launched the Solid State Storage Technical Work Group and unveiled the Green Storage Power Measurement Specification. In Europe, we are delighted to welcome to two new directors to the Board -- Jon Ashley of Infortrend and Denise Ridolfo of NetApp. The SNIA Europe Marketing Committee has grown over the past year and will be working on a number of projects over the coming months. In addition, the Events Committee has lined up an impressive programme for our Academy events with dates confirmed in the following cities: Stockholm, Copenhagen, Paris, and London. We are exptecting dates to be confirmed soon in Moscow, Warsaw and Milan. See Industry Events on page www.snia-europe.org/news/e_news/feb2009/events.htm for dates, or visit www.storage-academy.com to register. The SNIA Europe Academy offers the latest vendor-neutral information on technologies and trends using official SNIA tutorial materials and insight from local market experts. With regards to standards much has been achieved at SNIA Worldwide where the standards forums teams have been making progress in areas such as XAM, storage security and IP storage. As more information is made available, we will bring it to you via our website, direct mailers and of course Storage Networking Times.
