This document, along with the Cloud Data Management Interface Version 1.0, provides the information that developers need to create custom applications for a Cloud Storage System.

2. SNIA Cloud Storage Initiative

   As a reflection of the fast-paced growth of the cloud storage industry itself, the SNIA Cloud Storage Initiative has grown from an initial kick off by three founding members one year ago to now include two dozen participants from all areas of the storage industry and all regions of the globe.
   
   The increase in momentum and critical mass has generated two specialty groups: the Cloud Backup, Recovery, and Restore Special Interest Group, whose charter includes promoting adoption of cloud storage as a new delivery model; and the Archive and Long Term Retention Special Interest Group, whose charter includes advancing the use of public, private, and hybrid clouds for archival services through the adoption of CDMI and associated standards.
