SNIA Standards and Technology Plugfests Improve Interoperability
02 April 2013 - April 2, 2013. (Orlando, FL) The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) today announced that it has scheduled several new technical plugfests that will take place throughout the year. These include six Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMIS) plugfests at the SNIA Technology Center, four Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) plugfests at various global event venues, and its annual SMB/SMB2/SMB3 (Server Message Block) plugfest at the SNIA Storage Developers Conference. The multiday plugfests are cooperative, indepth engineering testing efforts among multiple vendor and open source software projects. Customers benefit from products and solutions with increased interoperability and demonstrated specification conformance.

SNIA Announces SMI-S Conformance Test Enhancements
17 October 2012 - SNIA Releases Version 1.5 of the Conformance Tests for SMI-S Thin Provisioning functionality is now tested to assist with the virtualization of todays cloud centric data centers. CTP v1.5 introduces testing for component diagnostics such as fans and sensors. CTP v1.5 introduces testing for remote storage replication known as Replication Services.

SNIA Cloud Data Management Interface Specification Earns ISO/IEC Designation as an International Standard
17 October 2012 - The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) today announced that its Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) specification, the first industry-developed open standard specifically for data storage as a service as part of cloud computing, has been designated an International Standard (IS) by the Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC 1), a joint effort of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for the purpose of standardization in the field of Information Technology
