BYOD. If that acronym doesnt strike fear into the heart of every chief exec or finance director, it should. Short for Bring Your Own Device, theres been a proliferation of new technology thats take the business world by storm; the tablet. More portable than a laptop, more connected than a mobile phone, these cross-over devices are incredibly popular, and rightly so. The flexibility they provide is truly amazing. Give a presentation, take photographs, jot down notes on the move, browse the internet, use business email and make calls, all from one easily transported device.

07 March 2013 - SNIAs Solid State Storage Initiative (SSSI) recently rolled out its new Workload I/O Capture Program, or WIOCP, a simple tool that captures software applications I/O activity by gathering statistics on workloads at the user level (IOPS, MB/s, response times queue depths, etc.) The WIOCP helps users to identify Hot Spots where storage performance is creating bottlenecks. SNIA hopes that users will help the association to collect real-use statistics on workloads by uploading their results to the SNIA website. Using this information SNIA member companies will be able to improve the performance of their solid state storage solutions, including SSDs and flash storage arrays.

Furthermore, the big data trend is rather a reality and not going anywhere as long as we keep tweeting, updating our Facebook status, posting photos and videos, we are creating massive amounts of data. There is tons of data all around us, and by tomorrow it will have grown by 2.5 exabytes.Whats important is that we take this amazing opportunity in front of us and turn into business value and information that will help us succeed as a whole.
