Map and Directions

The Cloud Interoperability Plugfest series (or "Cloud Plugfests" for short) originated out of community-based interoperability efforts and was selected by the OGF and SNIA in 2011 as a method to exchange information and to encourage interoperability on implementations of relevant cloud standards. It has since expanded to include a variety of support tools provided by these organizations and by ETSI to support the community.

The Cloud Plugfest series is open to participation by other standards organizations, individual developers, and software framework projects. For examples, see our list of relevant software projects. Space will be provided on this site upon request for links to information on any effort designed to promote interoperability of cloud software and the adoption of cloud standards for the betterment of the cloud standards ecosystem.

Plugfests are organized get-togethers between participants who are active developers in cloud-oriented framework projects, cloud standards and standards-based software.

Presentations are usually brief and intermixed with extensive periods of active coding and comparison between techniques. The goal is to produce interoperable, portable, reliable, scalable software with good security and good use of state-of-the-art techniques. The experience is oriented towards members of the development community and standards organizations who would like to see the output of their work used in practice in working systems.

Example: OpenSource cloud broker implemented by Compatible One with OCCI and stated to be compliant with NIST reference architecture, presented at Cloud Plugfest Dusseldorf - April 2012.

Presentations such as this are usually intermixed with periods of hands-on work and discussion between the standards and development communities.

Participation is governed by the Confidentiality Agreement. The purpose is to protect the confidentiality of information relating to tests conducted during the event, and to ensure that such information is used solely to further the purposes of interoperability testing and implementation of changes resulting from lessons learned from this testing. For further terms and conditions, please see the agreement itself.
