One of the few business certainties is that explosive data growth will continue and this will remain one of the biggest challenges in IT. This presentation looks at some of the key trends in data storage technologies for the coming year and examines how these technologies may help IT to manage the data deluge.
12:30 - 13:15 Impact of SSD in Your Storage System - Jan Stroombergen, SNIA Europe (Ingram Micro)
This session presents a brief overview of the solid state technologies which are being integrated into Enterprise Storage Systems today, including technologies, benefits, and price/performance.
It then goes on to describe where they fit into typical Enterprise Storage architectures today, with descriptions of specific use cases.
Finally the presentation speculates briefly on what the future will bring.
13:30 - 14:15 Cloud Computing and the Business Community - Alex McDonald, SNIA Europe (NetApp)
This presentation will cover popular use cases for cloud including storage clouds and enterprise or application specific clouds including multi-tenancy, private, and hybrid clouds while exploring why IT professionals are interested in each use case. SNIA's Cloud Storage Initiative (CSI) has created the Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) that can assist in cloud implementations and incorporation into your business case to prevent lock-in or solution obsolescence.
