The Sky is the Limit
Welcome to the SNIA Europe Cloud Storage Web Page !
SNIA launched the Cloud Storage Initiative in October this year, and from the standing-room only attendance at SNW Europe sessions on cloud storage, this promises to be a topic that will dominate throughout 2010.
The SNIA CSI is responsible for coordinating and driving all SNIA activities related to cloud storage, including education, technical development, business development, marketing and implementation. As an example, the CSI will promote and extend the draft Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI), develop new tutorials, and publish a joint white paper with the Open Grid Forum (OGF) focused on cloud storage for cloud computing.
All SNIA Europe members are eligible to participate in SNIA Technical Working Group and in the delivery of education programs on cloud storage here in Europe. Please let us know how you would like to get involved.

About CDMI
The new Cloud Storage standard called CDMI (Cloud Data Management Interface). CDMI lets you tag your data with special metadata (data system metadata) that tells the cloud storage provider what data services to provide that data (backup, archive, encryption, etc). These data services all add value to the data you store in the cloud and by implementing a standard interface such as CDMI, you are free to move your data from cloud vendor to cloud vendor without the pain of recoding to different interfaces. |
